Message from Acting Chairperson

The term NGO, which stands for ‘Non-Governmental Organisation’, refers to a structure that works to fill the gaps in the functions of the government for the welfare of people, of the society, and the nation. However, governments try their best to fulfil different roles, including policy development, regulation, facilitation, management and internal sustainability. But the process of advancement is still plagued by some loopholes and vulnerabilities. This process of improvement is not only limited to economic growth and prosperity among the people but it also implies the growth and inclusion of a few other significant factors, which not only facilitate development, but also help manifest a sustainable growth of the nation, These factors, include social growth, social justice, awareness, empowerment of citizens, equality, protection of human rights, uplifting the underprivileged and disadvantaged sectors of the society, promotion of education, women’s welfare, health sector and promoting humanitarian causes. The non-governmental organisations play a crucial role in actualising the process of advancement of the country by becoming an operational adherent of civil society. Though there is no such standard definition that can define such organisations, they could still be best defined as a setup that is working for the civil society with a ‘not-for-profit’ approach. This not-for- profit idea is the prime agenda of these institutions with which they become functional for the society and its people. There are approximately 2 million NGOs existing today in India and the significant objectives of community development, community welfare, relief, disaster management and rehabilitation, development in education, health sector, women’s empowerment, promoting voluntary work spirit, sustaining the system and governance and uplifting deprived sections of civil society. The National NGOs’ confederation believes that NGO sector has an inalienable duty and responsibility in the task of nation building based on the principle of inclusive growth, The sector should be placed on the same footing as the one enjoyed by the government executive led by its political leadership armed with its powerful bureaucratic setup.

Message from National Coordinator

I extend my sincere thanks to all office bearers and the Confederation family, from top to bottom, for their cooperation. I am committed to sustain and spread the Confederation’s programs to uplift society through local economic development, poverty alleviation, health, education, the empowerment of women and youth, and the overall development of children, ensuring equality, sustainability, and well-being for the country’s progress. The National NGOs’ Confederation has emerged as a formidable force in the development sector, striving to become a leading platform for NGOs and NPOs to partner together to drive societal changes. Our initiatives are meticulously designed to carve a niche in social service sector, providing a comprehensive platform that enables people to gain skills and know-how on jobs and social entrepreneurship along with nature conservation programs to achieve various aspects of UN SDG Goals. In our journey towards the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Confederation has been proactive in translating development resources into actionable initiatives. We understand that to build a sustainable future, a wider network of partners is essential. This includes NGOs, community-based grassroot groups, and both the unincorporated and incorporated private sector. Our belief is steadfast: empowering those at the bottom of the pyramid is crucial for addressing the challenges to the sustainable development process.

We have made significant strides in empowering communities through our Cluster Apparel Program, delivering nearly 45,876 sewing machines in association with Usha®. Partnering with HP®, our Digital Gramam has equipped students with nearly 26,470 laptops, enhancing digital literacy and capabilities. Furthermore, through the Women on Wheels Program, we have facilitated mobility and independence for 13,336 women by providing two-wheelers in association with renowned manufacturers like Honda®, Yamaha®, TVS® and Suzuki®.The Confederation is also pushing for organic farming clusters through the Jaivagramam Project, promoting sustainable agricultural practices.

Additionally, we are also planning on developing coastal areas through the Integrated Coastal Development Program, aiming for their holistic development. These initiatives are testament to our commitment to creating impactful change at the grassroots level. All of our programs aim to create employment for the beneficiaries. This includes toolkit distribution, training, and creating clusters of skilled workers.

The profit is shared between the NGOs and the workers. We have already started the Apparel Cluster, where we provided sewing machines, followed by training, and created clusters of manufacturing units for women. This initiative not only provides jobs to women but also markets the end products, ensuring a sustainable income. The Confederation members are currently present in 14 states and are planning to increase capacity in existing states and expand to new states. Our collective efforts are a reflection of our commitment to driving social change and ensuring a brighter, more sustainable future for all. Thank you for your continued support.

Message from Executive Board Member

At the National NGO’s Confederation, I am proud to share our unwavering commitment to environmental protection and sustainability. Our organization has been at the forefront of numerous initiatives aimed at preserving our natural resources and promoting eco-friendly practices across India.

One of our flagship projects, Jaivagram, embodies our vision for a sustainable future. Jaivagram is not just a project; it is a movement towards creating self-sustaining, eco-friendly communities. Through this initiative, we have successfully implemented organic farming practices and training programs that serve as a model for other communities to follow. Our efforts extend beyond Jaivagram. We actively engage with local communities, schools, and other NGOs to raise awareness about environmental issues and promote sustainable living. Our educational programs and workshops empower individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to make a positive impact on the environment.

Additionally, we are excited to announce our upcoming initiative, Nadhi Yatra. This project involves traveling through 14 districts and along all the rivers of Kerala to spread awareness and aid in the betterment of our rivers. Through Nadhi Yatra, the National NGO’s Confederation and its associated NGOs aim to highlight the importance of river conservation and engage communities in sustainable practices to protect these vital water resources.

However, the path to sustainability is not without its challenges. India faces significant obstacles in these sectors, including pollution, deforestation, waste management, water scarcity, climate change, and biodiversity loss. To address these challenges, the National NGO’s Confederation is creating a robust network of NGOs. This network leverages various resources, including funding, volunteering, and other essential resources, to effectively tackle these environmental issues. By fostering collaboration and resource-sharing among NGOs, we aim to amplify our collective impact and drive meaningful change.leverages various resources, including funding, volunteering, and other essential resources, to effectively tackle these environmental issues.
