The National NGO Confederation, a network of voluntary organizations working for social development, organized a seminar on the Youth Internship Program at Devagiri College, Kozhikode on Thursday. The seminar was aimed at creating awareness and providing guidance to students who are interested in pursuing internships with various NGOs in Kerala.
The seminar was inaugurated by Ms. Shamin Sebastian, the Deputy Collector of Kozhikode, who appreciated the initiative of the confederation and encouraged the students to take advantage of the opportunity. The National Chairman of the NGO Confederation, Mr. K.N. Anandakumar, presided over the event and explained the objectives and benefits of the program. He said that the program would help the students to gain practical experience and skills in various fields of social work and entrepreneurship.
The seminar also featured presentations by the district coordinators of the confederation, Mr. Mohanan Kottur, Mr. Suresh Babu, Fr. Jose Prakash, the college administrator Fr. Bony, and the principal Dr. Satish George, who shared their insights and experiences on working with NGOs and social enterprises. The national codirector of the confederation delivered the keynote address and gave an overview of the program details and eligibility criteria.
The Youth Internship Program is a six-month program that offers students a chance to work with prominent voluntary organizations in Kerala and learn from their best practices. The program also includes training modules on digital literacy, startup facilitation, and other essential skills for starting and running social ventures. As part of the seminar, laptops were distributed to 50% of the students who enrolled in the professional courses from Plus Two onwards, with financial assistance from the confederation.
The seminar was attended by more than 200 students from various colleges in Kozhikode district. The confederation plans to conduct similar seminars in other districts and colleges in the coming months.
