The National NGO Confederation, in collaboration with over 170 voluntary organizations across Kerala, is set to launch the first Apparel Cluster Unit as part of the Apparel Cluster development program at the Kozhikode Police Welfare Home today. This initiative, in partnership with USHA, aims to empower women by providing up to 50% financial assistance for sewing machines. So far, 45,000 women have received sewing machines, with an additional 4,000 women currently benefiting from the program.
Formation of Clusters: The program involves forming local clusters of women who have received sewing machines. These clusters are supported by voluntary organizations to expand tailoring work by providing fabric and other resources. The initiative also aims to establish common facility centers and create an e-commerce platform to enhance marketing opportunities for the products made by these women.
Event Details: The inauguration event will highlight the project’s goals and the collaborative efforts of the NGOs involved. This initiative is a significant step towards empowering women and promoting sustainable livelihoods in the region
