The National NGO Confederation, an independent national coalition of voluntary organizations in India, has launched the Jaivagramam Project aimed at uplifting 100,000 farmers across the state. Building on the success of the first phase implemented in Idukki district, the Confederation has decided to expand the project statewide.
The project focuses on forming farmer clusters and providing up to 50% financial assistance for seeds, saplings, organic fertilizers, bio-pesticides, and bio-fertilizers. Additionally, it aims to enhance the marketing infrastructure to sell farmers’ produce through voluntary organizations, provide training for the production of value-added agricultural products, and establish common facility centers by forming clusters of 50 to 100 farmers.
The second phase of the Jaiavagramam roject was inaugurated at Sai Gramam in Thonnakkal, Thiruvananthapuram, by the Honorable State Agriculture Minister, Mr. P. Prasad, under the chairmanship of the National NGO Confederation Chairman, Mr. Anand Kumar. During the event, I had the opportunity to explain the details of the project.
The event was attended by Confederation Board Members Mrs. Sheeba Suresh, Baby Kizhakkebhagam, Jayakumar Parts, Thiruvananthapuram District President Manoj M.R., Kollam District Coordinator V.S. Rana, Alappuzha District Secretary Shivaji, Palakkad District President Girish Kumar, Kozhikode District President Mohanan Kottur, Malappuram District Secretary Ummar Chirakkal, Wayanad District Secretary C.K. Dineshan, and Highrange Fertilizer Director Jiju Koppuzha.
The event also featured an exhibition of saplings, beehive colonies, honey processing equipment, agricultural machinery, organic fertilizers, bio-fertilizers, and machinery for producing value-added agricultural products. Arrangements were made for spot registration for farmers. The Confederation aims to incorporate innovative ideas in the agricultural sector and plan extensive farmer welfare activities through the Organic Village Project, with financial support from various consulting agencies as part of the Community Development Initiative.
